Belize strikes oil

TAIPEI, Taiwan –– Joseph Shih, Taiwan’s ambassador to Belize, said yesterday in Taipei that Taiwan is going to sign an agreement on oil exploration with the Central American country on Sept. 29, further strengthening bilateral cooperation between the countries.

Belize is dubbed by many U.S. media as the “Kuwait of Central America,” Shih said relations between Taiwan and Belize are moving from more traditional agricultural and economic relations to multi-dimensional cooperation.
